Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Health Care Reform Update

A letter from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois will be sent out soon with information of different options available for your current policy.  There are a few options.

Option 1 (Keep Your Current Policy):

  • If you DID NOT select a new policy for 2014, and you would like to keep your current policy, please continue to pay your premiums on or before the due day.  Your policy will automatically renew for 2014.
  • If you DID select a new policy for 2014, but would like to keep your current policy, you must contact Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois by visiting www.bcbsil.com/stayblue and downloading the “Request to Withdraw Enrollment in New 2014 Policy.”  Please fax the completed form directly to BCBS at (888) 235-2936 or email to enrollmentwithdrawalrequest@bcbsil.com.  This must be completed by December 23rd, 2013 to revert back to your current policy.

Option 2 (Choose a New Policy):

You still have the option to choose a new policy for 2014.

  • If you have already selected a new policy for 2014, this will automatically cancel your current policy and you do not need to take any further action.
  • If you have not selected a new policy for 2014 and would like to, please log into www.bcbsil.com/stayblue or contact Associated Agencies at (847) 427-3443 for assistance.  If you would like to begin your new policy on January 1, 2014 you must select your new policy and enroll by December 23rd, 2013.

This year’s enrollment will continue through March 31st, 2014.  If you enroll after December 23rd, 2013 until January 15th, 2014 your policy will begin on February 1st, 2014.

Please remember, if your current policy has any pre-existing condition exclusions or riders AND you choose to keep your current plan, those exclusions or riders will still be part of your policy.

If you have any questions, please contact Associated Agencies at (847) 427-3443.
