Human Resources Generalist

Summary

The HR Generalist will be responsible for providing day-to-day HR support in all stages of the employee lifecycle, with a priority focus on continuing our strong culture through engagement and the employee experience.  This position reports directly to the VP of HR and Operations.  In addition to strong HR knowledge, the ideal candidate will have some experience administering payroll and a strong proficiency with HR information systems, preferably Paylocity.

The Role- What you’ll do as an HR Generalist

  • Act as the first point of contact for employees. Be a confidential and welcoming resource and develop strong relationships, providing sound guidance and issue resolution.
  • Facilitate employee lifecycle processes to include onboarding, offboarding, and employee leaves, with a particular emphasis on ensuring a positive, frictionless, welcoming onboarding.
  • Oversee the performance management process and guide leaders on their employee reviews and evaluations.
  • Promote strong employee engagement by working in collaboration with our Engagement Committee to develop and implement programs and events that support our culture and foster connection
  • Assist in educating new employees on Human Resource policies, procedures, and benefits programs, providing clarity and support to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Develop expertise of HRIS, currently Paylocity. Assist in fully utilizing capabilities to drive efficiency, ensure data accuracy and utilize analytics to support decision making.
  • Assist with payroll administration.
  • Assist with employee related company communications to include employee milestones, engagement events, wellness campaigns, performance review process and benefits.
  • Assist with or lead annual summer intern program.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.

Program Description

Associated Insurance Internships are 10-weeks in length, hybrid, out of our Rolling Meadows, Illinois headquarters, and available in a variety of departments:

  • Commercial Insurance Lines – Middle Market
  • Commercial Insurance Lines – Program Business
  • Personal Insurance Lines
  • Life Insurance Lines
  • Group Benefit Insurance Lines 
  • Group Benefit Insurance Lines, 401K 
  • Risk Management, Data Analytics
  • Insurance Accounting
  • System Operations

Each internship will play a valuable role in the department’s functions and activities, and every intern will report to an experienced team member within their respective department.

In addition to the on-the-job insurance exposure and training, each intern will participate in:

  • Departmental Overview Training – Classroom style training on all aspects of each department that comprise Associated Agencies.
  • Career Development Training – Online training on the basics of an insurance agency, commercial, personal, and group benefit insurance lines. Additionally, robust online training on Microsoft 365 Essentials. Combined with classroom style training on various topics and career paths within the insurance industry. Plus, offsite visits to our carrier partners within the Chicagoland area.
  • Mentorship – A paired program and ability to connect with multiple Associated Leadership Team Members. 
  • Engagement Events – Various FUN engagement events, for example, ice cream socials, food trucks, Associated Company picnic, Top Golf, Cubs Game, philanthropic activities and much, much more.
