Program Description

Associated Insurance Internships are 10-weeks in length. The internship is based in our Cincinnati, OH office and interns will gain experience in the following areas: 

  • Commercial Insurance Lines – Middle Market
  • Group Benefit Insurance Lines 

Each internship will play a valuable role in the department’s functions and activities, and every intern will report to an experienced team member within their respective department. In addition to the on-the-job insurance exposure and training, each intern will participate in:

  • Departmental Overview Training – Classroom style training on all aspects of each department that comprise Associated Agencies
  • Career Development Training – Online training on the basics of an insurance agency, commercial, personal, and group benefit insurance lines. Additionally, robust online training on Microsoft 365 Essentials. Combined with classroom style training on various topics and career paths within the insurance industry. Plus, offsite visits to our carrier partners within the Chicagoland area
  • Mentorship – A paired program and ability to connect with multiple Associated Leadership Team Members 
  • Engagement Events – Various FUN engagement events, for example, ice cream socials, food trucks, Associated Company picnic, Top Golf, Cubs Game, philanthropic activities and much, much more

  • Commercial Insurance Lines – Middle Market

Commercial Lines (P&C) Account Manager

The Role- What you’ll do as a Commercial Lines (P&C) Account Manager:
To perform this job successfully, the applicant must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Works closely with Producers and other Associated personnel on all aspects of client procedures.
  • Makes major decisions independently in assisting producer(s) by handling the marketing of new business and renewal submissions for new and existing clients and document accordingly.
  • Acquires understanding of clients’ insurance objectives and analyzes and compares insurance plans to determine suitability.
  • Proactively review and service client accounts by obtaining the necessary information for renewals; preparing applications, surveys and other documents for submission, selection of markets, negotiations with underwriters, preparation of proposals, processing of policies as well as reviewing issued policies for accuracy and endorsements.
  • Appropriately documents conversations with clients and carrier representatives and updates all Associated management systems when necessary.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve any client service issues.
  • Servicing the needs of client accounts by inputting and updating policy details and maintaining new/renewal client files.
  • Develops new business from existing accounts and contributes to departmental production goals. Identifies and follows-up on cross selling opportunities when appropriate.

We're Seeking a Vice President, Team Lead for our Commercial Lines group. You'll manage a mid-to-large book as the primary contact for your clients, and lead a team of Account Managers and CSRs. We're looking for 10+ years in Commercial Lines as a Senior Account Manager or Account Executive. 

 Account Management

  • Make major decisions collaboratively in assisting producer(s) by handling the marketing of new business and renewal submissions for new and existing clients and document accordingly.
  • Acquire understanding of clients’ insurance objectives and analyzes and compare insurance plans to determine suitability.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure their requirements are met, attending review meetings where appropriate. Ensure procedures are followed to maintain a high quality of client service.
  • Review and service client accounts through working with Producer, Account Manager and CSRs in obtaining the necessary information for renewals; preparing applications, surveys and other documents for submission, selection of markets, negotiations with underwriters, preparation of proposals, processing of policies as well as reviewing issued policies for accuracy and endorsements.
  • Occasionally join meetings in person or remote to assist producers in closing new business opportunities. May also be asked to present proposal independent of producer.
  • Appropriately document conversations with clients and carrier representatives and update all Associated management systems when necessary.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve any client service issues.
  • Develop new business from existing accounts and contribute to departmental production goals. Identify and follow-up on cross selling opportunities when appropriate.

Team Lead

  • Supervision of team members to ensure Service Level Agreements are complied with.
  • Ensure team has knowledge of Service Standards and Policy Coverage.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to account managers and client service representatives on your team.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate development of team in accordance with Associated Learning & Development Prospectus.
  • Timely completion of employee review process.
  • Actively participate in Associated improvement committees.

Portfolio Management

  • Liaise with clients to ensure their requirements are met, attending review meetings where appropriate. Ensure procedures are followed to maintain a high quality of client service.
  • Respond promptly to complaints when required.
  • Complete regular quality assurance checks of your team’s work to ensure minimum standards are being met.
  • Collaborate with Director of Client Experience on process standards and capacity reviews.
  • Handle your own book of business and oversee books of business handled by direct reports.
