Northern Illinois Food Bank receives $10,000 grant

WEST BEND, WI (February 3, 2015) – The Northern Illinois Food Bank. in Geneva recently received a $10,000 grant from West Bend Mutual Insurance Company’s Independent Agents’ Fund.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank is the source of nutritious food, innovative feeding programs, and hope for more than 71,000 people each week. Their goal is to eliminate hunger in a 13-county service area, relying on local food pantries and feeding programs, food manufacturers and retailers, companies, foundations, and individuals who join them in their vision that no one will be hungry in Northern Illinois. The Food Bank provides food through a network of 800 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, youth and senior centers, as well as a number of other direct distribution programs to help hungry neighbors.

All employees at Associated Agency in Rolling Meadows volunteer onsite at the Bank twice a year, sorting, re-labeling, and packaging food. Agency leaders and employees attend a number of fundraising events throughout the year. In 2014, the agency organized and spearheaded the first annual charity challenge fundraiser, raising nearly $6,000 in cash and food donations.

Associated Agency is an independent insurance agency that represents West Bend, a property/casualty insurance company headquartered in West Bend, Wis.

The West Bend Independent Agents’ Fund was established in 2006 for nonprofit organizations served by the independent insurance agents who represent the company. To date, the Fund has awarded more than $900,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana.
